Matthew is an experienced trial lawyer who is dedicated to achieving the best possible results for his clients. He has tried more than two dozen jury trials through verdict and has extensive experience in all aspects of litigation, including motion hearings, depositions, arbitrations, and mediations. Matthew has been consistently selected by his peers as an Oregon Super Lawyers Rising Star since 2014, a distinction awarded to no more than 2.5 percent of Oregon lawyers.
Matthew’s practice has an emphasis on representing individuals who have suffered serious personal injuries. He handles cases involving wrongful death and catastrophic injuries, including trucking collisions, workplace injuries, and injuries suffered by motorcyclists, bicyclists, and pedestrians in both state and federal courts. Committed to a diverse and well-rounded practice in service of his clients' needs, Matthew also has experience in commercial, real estate, construction, and general business litigation.
Matthew joined Brownstein Rask in 2011. Before joining Brownstein Rask, Matthew worked primarily as a criminal defense attorney and has worked for the Metropolitan Public Defenders and the Federal Defenders, as well as being in private practice.
Matthew is on the arbitration panel for Multnomah County Circuit Court, where he is appointed by the court to serve as an arbitrator. He is currently serving on the Judicial Screening Committee for Multnomah County.

Matthew is a Portland native who graduated from Lincoln High School in 2000. When he is not representing the firm’s clients, Matthew spends his free time with his wife and four children. He enjoys coaching their youth sports teams and is an occasional bicycle commuter.
